Premium Head Gasket for 1928-1931 Ford Model A

$123.00

Designed for original and stock Model A cylinder heads, this premium head gasket features a solid steel core with high-density gasket material and a silicone-coated sealing surface for superior durability and coolant sealing. Additional high-temperature silicone sealing bands surround every water passage to help prevent coolant seepage without requiring additional gasket sealant.

Unlike conventional composite gaskets, this premium design provides a more reliable seal while maintaining correct compression characteristics for standard Model A combustion chambers.

Important: This gasket is intended for stock Model A cylinder heads only and should not be used with high-compression aftermarket heads or Model B heads, as the fire rings will not compress correctly.

Installation Tips

  • Install with the "This Side Up" marking facing upward.

  • Ensure both the cylinder head and engine block surfaces are clean, flat and free of oil or grease before installation.

  • Do not use gasket sealant. The gasket is self-sealing and additional sealants may damage the silicone sealing surfaces.

  • Tighten the cylinder head using the correct Model A tightening sequence.

  • Final torque specification is 55 ft-lbs (75 Nm).

  • After initial warm-up, allow the engine to cool completely before rechecking torque.

  • Re-torque the head again after approximately 500 miles (800 km) with the engine completely cold.

Best For

  • 1928-1931 Ford Model A engines with original or stock cylinder heads

  • Engine rebuilds requiring improved coolant sealing

  • Owners seeking a premium alternative to standard composite head gaskets

Features

  • Solid steel core construction

  • High-density gasket material

  • Silicone-coated sealing surfaces

  • Additional sealing bands around water passages

  • Self-sealing design requiring no gasket cement

  • Manufactured in the USA

Pairs Well With

  • Complete Engine Gasket Sets

  • Head Stud & Nut Kits

  • Torque Wrenches & Engine Tools

  • Cooling System Components

Alternatives to Consider

If you're rebuilding a stock engine on a budget, our Standard Copper Head Gasket offers a traditional replacement option. Engines fitted with Model B or aftermarket cylinder heads should instead use the Premium Model B Head Gasket, which is engineered for the different combustion chamber design.
