Model A Ratchet Nut (USA) (1928-31) A-6319-USA
The Model A Ratchet Nut (A-6319-USA) is a direct replacement ratchet nut for 1928-1931 Ford Model A engines. Installed at the front of the crankshaft, it secures the crankshaft pulley while also providing the engagement point for the original hand crank used to start the engine.
As one of the final components in the front crankshaft assembly, the ratchet nut performs two important functions. It clamps the crankshaft pulley securely in position and incorporates the ratchet mechanism that allows the starting crank to engage safely during manual engine starting.
Over time, original ratchet nuts can become worn, damaged or rounded through years of use, making them difficult to remove or reducing proper engagement with the starting crank. Replacing a worn ratchet nut helps restore both the security of the pulley assembly and the correct operation of the hand starting system.
This USA-made ratchet nut is manufactured to original specifications for accurate fitment and reliable performance. When installing, the nut should be tightened to 50 ft-lbs. For servicing, the dedicated A-6320 Ratchet Nut Wrench is designed specifically to fit this USA-manufactured nut.
