The Model A Modern Valve Set (A-6505-M) is a complete premium valve train upgrade for 1928-1934 Ford Model A engines. Developed by Performance Engineering, this kit modernises the original Ford valve design while remaining a direct replacement that requires no engine modifications.
Unlike conventional replacement valve sets, this package incorporates a number of carefully engineered improvements. The stainless steel valves feature revised head geometry, tighter manufacturing tolerances and an optimised stem length that compensates for engines with decked blocks or aftermarket camshaft profiles. These refinements improve valve sealing, helping to increase compression and maintain performance across a wide range of engine builds.
The valves are manufactured from modern automotive-grade stainless steel capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1,750°F (954°C), making them suitable for standard road cars, touring vehicles, high-performance engines and racing applications. Each valve also receives a Tufftride® surface treatment, improving wear resistance, oil retention and reducing friction for longer service life.
The included one-piece valve guides are manufactured from high-grade wear-resistant cast iron and are precision CNC machined alongside the valves to ensure exceptional stem-to-guide fit and consistent valve seating. Unlike many replacement guides, these can be installed by hand without specialised tools.
Each kit contains 8 valves, 8 guides, 8 retainers and 16 keepers, providing everything required to upgrade a complete Model A engine.
